Recently, Shenmu Tianyuan Co., Ltd., part of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, started construction on the first phase of a demonstration project for the comprehensive utilization of pulverized coal at a capacity of 600,000 tons per year. As of now, the civil engineering work for this project is progressing smoothly, and all aspects of its construction are being carried out according to plan. In January 2018, Shenmu Tianyuan held a meeting of the steering committee for the preparation of the 6.6 million tons per year demonstration project for the comprehensive utilization of coal dust by grade, announcing that the 600,000 tons per year demonstration project for such comprehensive utilization had officially entered the construction phase. This project is the first phase of Shenmu Tianyuan Company’s 6.6 million tons per year demonstration project for the comprehensive utilization of coal ash on a differentiated basis. On January 29, 2016, the company’s 600,000 tons per year demonstration project for the comprehensive utilization of coal ash was officially launched. After nearly two years of effort, all the preparatory work related to project approval and other necessary procedures has been completed; subsequently, the project will enter the actual construction phase, including civil works and equipment installation. The site proposed for the 6.6 million tons per year demonstration project on the diversified comprehensive utilization of pulverized coal by Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Shenmu Tianyuan Co., Ltd. is located in the Jinjie Industrial Park of Shenmu County, to the west of the existing plant facility for the 500,000 tons per year project on the lightweight processing of medium-temperature coal tar. The total investment for the project is 6,283.63 million yuan. The project uses low-grade coal dust as raw material and carries out efficient conversion to produce high-value-added products such as coal tar (which can be processed into fuel oil in existing facilities), LNG, and LPG. The project plans to build a production line for the diversified utilization of 6.6 million tons per year of coal dust, which will include 6 units with a capacity of 1 million tons per unit and 1 unit with a capacity of 600,000 tons per year for coal dust pyrolysis, as well as a facility for producing 277,000 tons per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and a facility for producing 6,650 tons per year of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Supporting facilities include 3×40,000 Nm3/h coal gasification units, air separation units capable of producing 30,000 Nm3/h of nitrogen and oxygen each, and 3×160 t/h high-pressure superheated coal powder boilers. Shenmu Tianyuan Chemical Co., Ltd., part of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, was formerly known as Shenmu Jinjie Tianyuan Chemical Co., Ltd., and was established in August 2005. In October 2008, a successful reorganization was carried out in collaboration with Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. The company covers an area of 1,000 mu, has 1,200 employees, and its total assets amount to 2.9 billion yuan. It is a new-type coal chemical enterprise dedicated to the research and development of technologies for the lightweight processing and comprehensive utilization of medium-temperature coal tar, as well as their industrial application.
