Shanxi Plans to Build a 3 Million-Ton Coking and LNG Project Author/Source: Coal Chemicals Journal Date: July 26, 2021 Clicks: 19 A few days ago, the feasibility study report for Linfen New Energy Project of Taiyuan Gasification Group Company was successfully approved by experts. At the meeting, 7 experts from the coking industry and coal chemical industry carefully listened to the presentation on the Linfen new energy project, gained an in-depth understanding of its details, and after discussion formulated their opinions, unanimously approving the project. The expert group agreed that the project’s preparation standards are sound, the data used is reliable, and its overall design and technical approaches are at an advanced level in China. The risk factors have been comprehensively identified. The project meets the requirements set out in Shanxi Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan, which aims to establish a base for unconventional natural gas, promote the development of clean energy, encourage the integrated use of various energy sources, and create a green multi-energy supply system. It also aligns with JinNeng Holding Group’s strategy for Taiyuan Gasification, which focuses on expanding coal production and strengthening coke manufacturing, as well as the goal of turning Taiyuan Gasification into a new type of enterprise that enables the clean and efficient utilization of coal. Taiyuan Gasification Group Company stated that in the next step, it will take into account the opinions and suggestions of experts, as well as current industry standards and requirements, to further refine the project feasibility study, advance the approval process for the project, and accelerate its implementation, thereby laying a solid foundation for building a new Taiyuan Gasification system in this new historical period. The project will be carried out in two phases. The total investment for Phase I is 6.5 billion yuan. This phase involves the construction of a project to produce 300 million cubic meters of synthetic natural gas from coke oven gas, along with a coking project with an annual capacity of 3 million tons and a 16-kilometer dedicated railway line ； The total investment for the second phase is initially estimated at 1.8 billion yuan. It will focus on the field of deep processing, vigorously develop industries such as hydrogen energy and needle coke, further extend the industrial chain, increase the added value of products, and strive to maximize economic, environmental, and social benefits.
