Xuzhou Longxingtai Energy Technology’s project to increase production capacity to 2.6 million tons per year in coking, while also producing 300,000 tons of methanol and 100,000 tons of synthetic ammonia – Author/Source: Huahua Network Coal Chemicals; Date: April 23, 2020; Clicks: 17. Recently, this project by Xuzhou Longxingtai Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was included in Jiangsu Province’s 2020 plan for investing in major industrial projects. By integrating six companies – Xuzhou Qiangsheng Urban Gas Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Tengda Coking Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Huayu Gas Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Zhongtai Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Dongxing Energy Co., Ltd., and Xuzhou Longshan Coking Co., Ltd. – which together possess a coking capacity of 5.9026 million tons per year, a new coking project with a capacity of 2.6 million tons has been established in the chemical industry cluster area of Pizhou Economic Development Zone, to the north and west of Yizhou Technology Co., Ltd. This is the Longxingta project, which involves upgrading existing facilities to produce 2.6 million tons of coke per year, along with 300,000 tons of methanol and 100,000 tons of synthetic ammonia. At present, 3 coking plants, namely Xuzhou Qiangsheng Urban Gas Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Tengda Coking Co., Ltd., and Xuzhou Huayu Gas Co., Ltd., have been shut down, while the remaining 3 will be shut down in June 2020. The total investment for this project is 4,933,529,600 yuan, with a total land area of 738,467 m2. Coking is carried out using 4×65-hole JNDX3-6.25 type coke ovens with a height of 6.25 meters, which are of the single-heating multi-stage heating and ramming type. Supporting facilities include 3×165 tons/hour dry quenching units, 2 sets of flue gas desulfurization and denitrification plants for the coke ovens, a gas purification unit with a capacity of 160,000 m3/h (on a dry basis, at standard conditions), a methanol production plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, an ammonia synthesis plant with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons, a phenol-cyanide wastewater treatment plant, as well as various auxiliary facilities. Part of the purified coke oven gas is sent to the coke ovens as fuel gas, while the rest is all used in the methanol plant to produce methanol. Coke oven gas is compressed, and an adsorption tower TSA is used to remove tar and naphthalene; subsequent desulfurization is carried out in a desulfurization tank and an iron-molybdenum converter. Through a preheating furnace and a conversion furnace, methane in the feed gas is converted into the effective gases CO and H2 required for methanol synthesis. Finally, methanol is synthesized and distilled to produce the methanol product. The designed capacity of the plant is 300,000 tons per year; the actual output is 346,000 tons per year of pure methanol, along with 2,500 tons per year of fusel oils. Synthetic ammonia is produced using the vent gas from a methanol synthesis plant as raw material. The off-gas from the methanol synthesis alcohol washing tower is subjected to hydrogen extraction using PSA; the hydrogen and nitrogen are then mixed in a ratio of 3:1 and sent to the ammonia synthesis unit. The designed capacity of the ammonia synthesis plant is 100,000 tons per year, with an actual production volume of 89,600 tons per year.
