On May 26, Chongqing Huafeng’s 300,000-ton per year adiponitrile production project (Phase 3) completed its mechanical construction and entered the phase of full commissioning. It is reported that this project (Phase 3) is scheduled to begin operations in June this year. By then, Chongqing Huafeng will have the capacity to produce 200,000 tons of adiponitrile and 200,000 tons of hexamethylenediamine per year, which will help alleviate the supply and demand imbalance of these substances in China. This is of great significance for the scaled and high-quality development of China’s nylon 66 industry. “The \"300,000 tons per year adiponitrile project\" is a key investment project built in Chongqing by Huafeng Group. It was established after the group overcame the technical challenges related to adiponitrile production, and taking into account the current status of the adiponitrile/adipamide and nylon 66 industries both domestically and internationally, as well as the industrial infrastructure advantages available in the Baitao Industrial Park. The third phase of this project was designed and constructed based on the experience gained from the construction and operation of the previous two phases. It includes main facilities such as those for producing 100,000 tons per year of adiponitrile and 100,000 tons per year of hexamethylenediamine, along with associated supporting systems. It is understood that Chongqing Huafeng has adopted the adipic acid process to produce adiponitrile, and has built two production units with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons each. At present, these two units are operating stably; their energy consumption per unit of product is lower than the target values set during design, and the quality of the product is at a leading level in the industry. This has resolved the issue of whether adiponitrile could be produced domestically in China, and it has ended the situation in which high prices for adiponitrile persisted due to domestic monopolies over many years.
