The green methanol project of Henan Shuncheng Group was highly praised by the leaders who visited the site. Everyone admired Henan Shuncheng Group’s forward-thinking approach to project development and expressed their anticipation for the completion and operation of this green methanol facility. The Anyang Shunli Green and Low-Carbon Methanol Project of Henan Shuncheng Group was established as a joint venture between Zhejiang Geely Technology Group, Henan Shuncheng Group, and Maifenglong (Shanghai) Environmental Engineering Technology Company, a subsidiary of Icelandic Carbon Cycle International (CRI). The total investment for Phase 1 of the project is approximately 700 million RMB. It is planned to produce 110,000 tons of green and low-carbon methanol per year, absorb 160,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, and indirectly reduce another 600,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year – an amount equivalent to that absorbed by 600,000 mu (400 square kilometers) of mature forests in one year. The project generates annual sales revenue of around 600 million yuan; the internal rate of return on total investment can reach 23%, and it creates tax revenues of 190 million yuan while providing employment for 130 people. This project aims to establish the first set of demonstration facilities at a world-class scale in Anyang City and even in Henan Province for greenhouse gas reduction, environmental protection, and a low-carbon circular economy; it holds great significance as a model for enhancing Anyang City’s reputation in terms of environmental protection both within the province and across the country.
