A few days ago, Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group’s Shaanxi Yulin Energy Chemical Materials Co., Ltd. held a seminar regarding the industrial expansion of the ethylene glycol project. Zhang Jixiao, a member of the Party Committee and deputy general manager of Yulin Energy Group Company, as well as the secretary of the company’s Party branch and chairman, presided over the meeting. At the meeting, Ningbo Zhongke Yuandong Catalysis Technology Co., Ltd. gave a special presentation on the industrial expansion of the ethylene glycol sector, covering aspects such as market potential, market capacity, prospects for the development of downstream industries, and analysis of investment returns. Participants engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions regarding technologies related to the expansion of the ethylene glycol industry. The meeting emphasized that conducting thorough research, rigorous feasibility studies, careful evaluation, integrating upstream and downstream sectors, expanding and extending the industrial chain, and achieving product diversification are essential steps for the company’s growth and development. Zhang Jixiao made arrangements for the further development of the ethylene glycol industry in the next phase. Zhang Jixiao demanded that all departments accelerate the establishment of industries such as PGA, DMC, chemical logistics parks, as well as maintenance and remanufacturing services. The project to produce 400,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol as the first phase of the 1.2 million tons per year ethylene glycol production facility by Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd. is the initial project undertaken by Yulin Energy Group at the Clean Fuel and High-End Chemical Materials Base within the Qingshui Industrial Park in the Yushen Industrial Zone. The project covers a total planned area of 1,711 mu, with an investment of 5.8 billion yuan. Its construction period is 30 months, and it is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in June 2022. The project uses coal as a raw material; gasification is employed to produce syngas, which is then purified to separate carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Ethylene glycol is synthesized indirectly through coupling and hydrogenation, with by-products including DMC, crude ethanol, mixed alcohols, sulfur, liquid oxygen, and liquid nitrogen. The project construction includes a gasification unit, a purification unit, a hydrogen/carbon monoxide separation unit, an ethylene glycol unit, etc. The utility systems and supporting auxiliary facilities include: 3×350 t/h high-temperature and high-pressure circulating fluidized bed boilers + 2×30 MW back-pressure steam turbine generator sets, air separation units, circulating water stations, desalination stations, storage and transportation facilities, sewage treatment plants, etc. The gasification unit employs the Collin powder gasification technology and includes 2 powder gasifiers ； The ethylene glycol plant utilizes Zhongke Yuandong’s ethylene glycol technology. Once the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected to generate annual revenue of 2.897 billion yuan, pay taxes amounting to 483 million yuan, and create profits of 607 million yuan. It will also provide employment for 600 people, offering significant economic and social benefits.
