The projects to convert direct cooling to indirect cooling in the companies under Orchid Innovation have been completed one after another and are now in operation! Recently, news came in from the Jincheng project site indicating that the direct-cooling to intercooling conversion project for Orchid Danfeng Chemical Co., Ltd., which was carried out by Shanghai Jingye, has been successfully put into operation. This marks the completion of all seven direct-cooling to intercooling conversion projects (involving integrated treatment of multiple pollution sources resulting from fixed-bed coal gas production) in the Jincheng area, all of which were undertaken by Shanghai Jingye. With the full completion of the integrated treatment project for multiple pollution sources in clean fixed-bed gas generation in the Jincheng area, it is foreseeable that the total amount of pollutants emitted by coal chemical enterprises in this region will be significantly reduced, marking a solid step forward in terms of energy conservation and emission reduction. I. Phase II of the Orchid Field Joy Project: The Phase II of this project, which aims at integrated treatment of multiple pollution sources generated by coal-based gas production using clean-type fixed-bed technology at Orchid Field Joy, was carried out with strong support from the company’s management. Drawing on the experience gained from the operation of Systems 2 and 3 in Phase I, the project team ensured progress while maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and ultimately completed the project according to the planned schedule! The newly installed gas filtration and purification modules No. 1 and No. 4 were put into operation and integrated into the main system on August 23, 2021, and September 4, 2021, respectively. The key operational performance parameters of the GCM gas filtration and purification modules, such as system pressure difference, resistance fluctuations, and particulate emissions, all exceed the design requirements, reaching international advanced levels and being at the leading level in China! II. The direct modification project at the Lanhua Chemical Branch: The clean-type fixed-bed coal gasification project for integrated treatment of multiple pollution sources developed by Lanhua Kechuang Chemical Company was successfully completed and put into operation recently, thanks to the continuous efforts of the project team and the support and guidance of the leadership at the Lanhua Chemical Branch! Orchid Chemical Company’s north gas generation system has newly installed gas filtration and purification modules to remove pollutants from the gas. The system was brought online and integrated into the main system on September 8, 2021. After operation, it performed steadily, with all key parameters such as system pressure difference, resistance fluctuations, and particulate emissions meeting the design requirements. III. Lanhua Coal Chemical Company’s Direct Modification Project: This project relates to the integrated treatment of multiple pollution sources in Lanhua Coal Chemical Company’s clean-type fixed-bed coal gas production process. Two sets of gas filtration and purification modules were installed; based on the gas production volume data from the gas generation workshop, filters with a larger capacity were used, enabling a maximum gas processing capacity of 75,000 Nm3/h. This effectively controls the floor space, freeing up room for future technical upgrades. With the support and assistance of the leadership at Orchid Coal Chemical Company, the project was successfully completed and put into operation; it has been functioning properly to this day, with all performance indicators being excellent. IV. Phase II of the Orchid Danfeng Project: As the first customer in China’s methanol industry to adopt gas filtration and purification technologies, Phase II of Orchid Danfeng’s project for integrated treatment of multiple pollution sources associated with coal-based gas production using clean fixed-bed systems has also been completed and put into operation recently. With this, the integrated treatment of all pollution sources related to coal-based gas production at Orchid Danfeng’s plant is now complete, offering a new approach for improving environmental standards in fixed-bed systems used in the methanol industry. The second phase of Orchid Danfeng involved adjustments to the first phase that had been completed, with the filters of the two systems being reconfigured upon commissioning. The second phase of the project was successfully commissioned and integrated into the main system in October 2021, with all key operational performance parameters, such as system pressure difference, resistance fluctuations, and particulate emissions, exceeding the design requirements. Conclusion: With the strong support and assistance of the leaders at all levels of the Orchid Group as well as the project owners, the various projects undertaken by Shanghai Jingye have been successfully put into operation. This marks the completion of the upgrading and transformation of clean-type fixed-bed systems in all companies under the Orchid Group in the Jincheng area. It is in line with the requirements set out in the “Opinions of the Central Committee and the State Council on Intensifying Efforts to Combat Pollution” and the “Action Plan for Comprehensive Control of Air Pollution during the Autumn and Winter Periods 2021–2022”, which call for precise and scientific approaches to pollution control as well as efforts to reduce pollution and carbon emissions. Such efforts will make a significant contribution to reducing emissions in the region, improving air quality, and achieving the goals related to VOCs control, thus serving as a regional model for improving environmental standards through the use of clean-type fixed-bed systems in Shanxi Province.
