Recently, the standard for **fully biodegradable polyglycolic acid (PGA)** was officially approved for development by the National Standards Committee, and Shanghai Pu Jing Chemicals Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Pu Jing Chemicals”) will be involved in formulating this PGA national standard. As the pioneer of the original technology for producing polyglycolic acid from syngas, Pu Jing Chemical has independently developed a new manufacturing technique for biodegradable PGA materials, holding full intellectual property rights over this entire process. This project was submitted to the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Bio-based Materials and Degradable Products in 2019. Following preliminary evaluations, project approval discussions, and public announcements, the project was approved through Document No. 41 [2021] issued by the National Standards Committee. The development of fully biodegradable PGA technologies and materials is an important measure to thoroughly implement **plastic prohibition and restriction policies, as well as the requirements set out in the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission’s Guidelines on Promoting the High-quality Development of Central State-owned Enterprises and Advancing Efforts toward Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality**. The establishment of PGA product standards will further improve the standard system for biodegradable plastics at all stages of production, processing, and use, ensuring the green and healthy development of the plastics industry. It will also help to drive the high-end, diversified, and low-carbon development of the coal chemical industry, while setting the direction for the progress of this sector. This, in turn, will create favorable conditions for overcoming the challenge of \"white pollution\" and achieving sustainable environmental development.
