A few days ago, construction started on Shandong Chengtai New Materials Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 104,000 tons of methyl methacrylate per year; this project also includes plans to manufacture polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) products as well as other high-end new materials. These products will form an integrated circular economy system with the company’s existing butane-based industrial chain, thereby enhancing economic efficiency and overall competitiveness. At the launch ceremony on December 25, Mou Zheying, chairman of Shandong Chengtai New Materials Co., Ltd., said that the MMA project will employ advanced carbon tetra method production technology. It is a project aimed at strengthening the company’s core competitiveness; once completed, it will become the most advanced in terms of manufacturing processes, the highest quality in terms of products, and the largest in scale. This project holds great significance for the company’s efforts to become a leading enterprise in the field of high-end new materials worldwide, as well as for advancing technological innovation in the chemical industry. It is understood that the total investment in this project is 1.528 billion yuan, the land area covered is 300 mu, the construction period is 30 months, and the production capacity will be 104,000 tons per year. Once the project is completed and put into operation, it will form an integrated circular economy with the existing industrial chain. It is expected that annual sales revenue will increase by 2.035 billion yuan, new net profits of 453 million yuan will be generated, tax revenues of 120 million yuan will be obtained, and 2,000 new jobs will be created. Along with the opening ceremony, Shandong Chengtai New Materials Co., Ltd. and Xiashan Green Technology Development Group Co., Ltd. also held an exchange meeting on the comprehensive utilization of light hydrocarbons for the production of high-end new materials. Experts such as Zheng Lansun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yang Chunguang, president of the China International Economic and Technical Cooperation Promotion Association, and Yuan Youzhu, director of the Clean Production Engineering Laboratory for Alkyl Ether Ester Chemicals, attended the meeting to discuss the broad development prospects of new material projects as well as MMA, a product derived from light hydrocarbons.
