The purging of Xiangyu Salt Chemical’s Boiler No. 5 was completed successfully, and its official commissioning is just around the corner. Author/Source: Xiangyu Salt Chemical. From February 14 to 19, 2022, the Technology Planning Department, after thorough preparation and with the strong support and cooperation of relevant departments as well as installation and commissioning staff, managed to ignite Boiler No. 5 on the first attempt; it met all the required standards, thus completing the purging process successfully. Boiler purging primarily refers to the use of steam to clean systems such as the boiler superheater and main steam pipes, in order to remove various impurities remaining in these systems. This process not only prevents foreign substances from affecting the quality of the steam, but also effectively stops serious accidents such as blade breakage and runaway caused by the impact of these foreign substances, ensuring the safe operation of the unit; therefore, the purging step is crucial. On the evening of February 16, 2022, the ignition of Boiler No. 5 was successful from the first attempt; it was able to increase its temperature and pressure smoothly, entering the purging phase. During the purging process, a series of problems were encountered, including sticking of the steam vent valve, inaccurate temperature readings at the furnace, difficulty in operating the outlet valve of the coal feeder, and blockages in the drain pipes. But through the joint efforts of everyone, with the spirit of addressing any problems that arise and overcoming any difficulties that come up, they braved the cold winds, worked at full capacity, and stayed at the boiler site day and night to fix defects and record key data. After more than 50 purging attempts, the target shooting test was passed on February 19, 2022, thereby completing the purging process successfully. The successful completion of the purging marks the taking of the most important step in the construction of this project, with its official commissioning just around the corner.
