A few days ago, Tianxi Company held the second meeting of its first Workers’ Congress. The meeting voted to approve the \"Plan for the Relocation of the 100,000 t/a Synthetic Oil Pilot Project at Tianxi Coal-to-Oil Branch and the Carbon-Based New Materials Project (Draft for Review)\". Pei Jian, manager of Tianxi Company, delivered a work report titled \"Embrace New Ideas, Unite Efforts, Take the Initiative, and Write a New Chapter.\" Based on a scientific analysis of the company’s current situation and tasks, the report outlines the guiding principles for work in 2022: in line with the “1·1·2·3·0” development strategy, efforts should be made to bring the company’s relocation project to fruition as soon as possible. Here, “1” refers to aiming at an overall goal, namely to start the construction of the relocation project this year and complete 10% of the civil engineering work by the end of the year. Project Overview: The 100,000 t/year synthetic oil demonstration project of Tianxi Coal-to-Oil Branch has a total investment of 2.17 billion yuan. The designed production capacity of the project is 100,000 t per year of coal-based synthetic oil, 13,000 t of liquefied petroleum gas, and 16,000 t of sulfur; additionally, 300,000 t of refined methanol can be produced. This project is the world’s first coal-based methanol-to-oil plant, and it is one of the key projects under Shanxi Province’s 11th Five-Year Plan. The project uses low-quality coal characterized by high sulfur, high ash content, and high ash melting point as the main raw material. It employs space-based pressurized coal gasification technology as well as Mobil Corporation’s MTG methanol-to-gasoline technology. In addition, industrial trials have been conducted on the ash-polymerized fluidized bed pressurized coal gasification technology, which holds independent intellectual property rights in China. The project mainly produces a variety of chemical products such as coal-based synthetic gasoline, methanol, tetramethylbenzene mixtures, liquefied petroleum gas, and sulfur, thereby realizing a circular economy model based on coal-based multi-product production. The project completed its construction in June 2009, successfully producing coal-based synthetic oil products. In 2014, a space furnace was used to replace the ash fusion fluidized bed.
