The Air Separation Unit at Yueneng Chemical’s Syngas Center is making every effort to ensure clean and orderly construction. Author/Source: Yueneng Chemical. Date: April 21, 2022. Clicks: 17. As of April 20, all the static equipment at the air separation unit has been installed, while 60% of the dynamic equipment has been installed. A total of 48,050 inches of piping have been welded, and 40% of the piping prefabrication work has been completed. Since the installation of the distillation towers in the air separation unit began in 2021, the technical personnel involved in this project have taken measures to ensure that the company’s cleanliness protocols are strictly followed throughout the construction process. They assigned dedicated personnel to carry out 100% degreasing of the pipes inside the cold box, as well as acid washing and passivation treatment for the pipes outside the cold box. For each step of the pipe installation process, every weld joint, equipment connections, and the cleanliness of the pipes, inspection and verification were carried out by the construction team, the supervision team, the Leybold manufacturer, and the company’s own technical personnel. This ensures that every oxygen-related pipeline is clean and free of oil, that each passivated pipeline meets the required passivation standards, and that all welds are fabricated in strict accordance with the relevant requirements outlined in the welding procedure documents. It lays a solid foundation for the early production of qualified oxygen and nitrogen products by this facility, as well as for the timely operation of the company’s ethylene glycol project. It is reported that for the air separation unit at the syngas center, the total length of high-pressure steam pipelines is 1,197.5 inches, and 34.99% of this has been completed ; The total length of low-pressure steam pipelines is 1,509 inches, with 34.19% already completed ; The total length of air pipelines is 15,178.75 inches; 47.62% has been completed ; The total length of oxygen pipelines is 3,909.5 inches, with 32.56% already completed ; The total length of nitrogen pipelines is 16,693.5 inches, with 41.6% completed. The first phase of the project to produce 400,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol as part of Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd.’s 1.2 million tons per year coal-based ethylene glycol production capacity, is a project that marks the start of operations at the coal-based clean fuel and high-end chemical materials manufacturing bases located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of the Yushen Industrial Zone. The total planned area for this project is 711 mu, with an estimated investment of 6 billion yuan; the construction period is set at 30 months, and completion and operation are scheduled for 2022. The project construction includes a gasification unit, a purification unit, an H2/CO separation unit, an ethylene glycol unit, etc. The utility systems and supporting auxiliary facilities include: 3×350t/h high-temperature and high-pressure circulating fluidized bed boilers + 2×30MW back-pressure steam turbine generator sets, air separation units, circulating water stations, desalination stations, storage and transportation facilities, and sewage treatment plants. The gasification unit employs the Collin powder gasification technology and includes 2 powder gasifiers; the ethylene glycol unit uses the Zhongke Yuandong ethylene glycol technology. Carbon monoxide and hydrogen are used to indirectly synthesize ethylene glycol through carbonylation, coupling, and hydrogenation, with by-products including dimethyl carbonate, crude ethanol, mixed alcohols, sulfur, liquid oxygen, and liquid nitrogen.
100% of the pipes inside the cryogenic tank are subjected to degreasing treatment, while the pipes outside the cryogenic tank are treated with acid washing and passivation. For each step of the pipe installation process, as well as for every weld joint, equipment connection point, and the cleanliness of the pipes, the construction party, the supervision party, the Air Liquide manufacturer, along with the company’s relevant technical personnel, are organized to conduct inspections and verifications.
