Author/Source: Coal-based New Materials Date: 2022-06-21 Clicks: 15 On June 17, the second public announcement regarding the environmental impact assessment was made for the first phase of Inner Mongolia Junzheng Chemical Co., Ltd.’s green and sustainable industrial project, which includes 2×300,000 tons per year of BDO and 2×120,000 tons per year of PTMEG. This project will construct facilities for producing 600,000 tons per year of BDO (1,4-butanediol), 1 million tons per year of PBAT/PBS/PBT (polyadipic acid/butylene terephthalate/polybutylene succinate/polybutylene terephthalate), 80,000 tons per year of PTMEG (polytetramethylene ether glycol), as well as supporting auxiliary facilities. On June 15, Junzheng Group (601216.SH) stated on the investor interaction platform that in May 2021, the company’s board of directors, taking into account **industry policies and the company’s strategic development goals, reviewed the plan for its wholly-owned subsidiary to invest in the construction of the first phase of a green, environmentally friendly, biodegradable plastic recycling industry project. The board approved such investment, and it was also approved by the shareholders’ meeting held in 2020. To date, the project has obtained the filing documents from the National Development and Reform Commission as well as the review comments on its energy conservation report. In the first phase of this project, facilities will be built for the production of 1 million tons per year of PBAT/PBS/PBT/PTMEG in a combined process, 600,000 tons per year of BDO, a hydrogen production facility using carbon-based materials, and 800,000 tons per year of formalin (55% wt). The total investment in this project is estimated to be 20.7 billion yuan, with funds being allocated gradually as the construction progresses. Through the deep integration of the coal coking chemical industry and the chlor-alkali chemical industry as mentioned above, it is possible to maximize the utilization of resources and energy. This approach helps achieve the development goals of extending, supplementing, and strengthening industrial chains, as well as facilitating a green integration and upgrading of the coking industry and the biodegradable plastics industry, thereby contributing to ensuring the long-term competitiveness of these projects. To date, various tasks related to the Phase 1 project of the biodegradable plastic recycling industry, which was invested in and built by the company, are being carried out in an orderly manner, including capacity integration, preparation of production resources, bidding for production equipment, and recruitment of staff. Contracts for processes such as those involving formaldehyde, BDO, and PTMEG have already been signed, and relevant design work has begun ; The bidding process for the main equipment has also been completed, and site preparation work is currently in progress.
