Due to the early construction of its facilities, Shaanxi Chemical Company has a relatively high level of automation for its plants, but its foundation in digitalization and information technology is weak. With the further advancement of informatization in society, the company has realized that comprehensively promoting informatization is crucial for achieving its strategic goals, and it represents an important measure for developing and strengthening the company’s core capabilities and competitive advantages. Since 2020, the entire company has shared a common understanding, embraced new ways of thinking, and defined its role clearly; it has invested significant effort and real commitment to advancing information technology initiatives in all aspects. All departments of the company are involved in every stage of the implementation process, ensuring that the projects are built properly and can be effectively utilized. This approach helps to enhance the standards for the construction and operation of the company’s smart factories, and it enables the company to achieve its vision of \"happy employees and respect from peers\" through a high level of informatization. In 2022, Shaanxi Chemical Industry Corporation officially embarked on its digital transformation journey. First, strengthen overall planning, with top-level design providing support. At the beginning of the construction, the company commissioned a third party to develop an intelligent construction plan, which was used as a guide for implementing the project in phases. According to the plan, the first and most crucial step is to establish an industrial internet data platform. Given that digital transformation covers a wide range of areas and involves complex processes, it is necessary to rely on systematic thinking and systems engineering methodologies to develop targeted and actionable top-level designs and construction plans, thereby identifying the key areas for focus and the appropriate priorities. The project team responsible for the company’s informatization efforts conducts investigations frequently, through various channels, and in a comprehensive manner, in order to clarify the management relationships between different elements and organize the data sources properly. At present, the data sources have been established, and 80% of the platform development has been completed; it is expected that the construction will be largely finished by the end of August. Second, strengthen application-driven efforts. Centered on the needs of digital transformation, build an ecosystem in which the development and utilization of digital infrastructure promote each other. Carry out active research, vigorously promote the development and application of digital infrastructure, use digital technology modules to transform and upgrade traditional industries, and support digitalized production. The APC optimization control for boilers has been fully implemented, accelerating the adoption of intelligent monitoring and diagnostic technologies, enhancing the precise regulation of energy use, and improving the efficiency of resource allocation in energy consumption processes. Through digital integration, optimization, and application, it aims to improve the overall efficiency of equipment, boost labor productivity, enhance product quality, increase line efficiency, reduce raw material costs, minimize inventory levels, lower energy consumption, and cut quality-related costs. To fully improve work efficiency, it has become necessary to strengthen the foundation of training, enhance training effectiveness, and innovate training methods. The company has also carried out OTS development efforts; these efforts cover a wide range of aspects, have clear objectives, and are highly practical, thus providing additional avenues for improving the operational skills of employees. Third, strengthen risk prevention and control. The goal of building digital infrastructure is to support the high-quality development of enterprises. During the construction process, priority is given to efficiency; technical and economic feasibility analyses of the various application modules are conducted, and cost-benefit assessments are carried out to ensure that investment risks and costs remain under control. During the construction process, measures should be taken to prevent the creation of \"isolated\" modules; the module architecture should be detailed before work begins, and dedicated personnel should oversee the construction process to address any issues promptly. Supervision and evaluation throughout the project implementation are essential to avoid incomplete modules that would result in wasted investment and resources. It is also important to ensure that data from various modules can be exchanged effectively both vertically and horizontally, thereby laying a solid foundation for future operations. At present, the intelligent development efforts at Shaanxi Chemical Company are progressing rapidly.
