Recently, the results of the bidding process for the design project of Pengwan Hydrogen Port’s 20,000 tons per year hydrogen production facility using coke oven gas were announced by Shanxi Pengfei Group. Winner of the bid: Saiding Engineering Co., Ltd. The Pengwan Hydrogen Port 20,000 tons/year coke oven gas hydrogen production project utilizes coke oven gas generated by the gas boilers and tubular furnaces at the Pengfei Coking Plant and Xinyu Coking Plant after the dry quenching process is put into operation, as raw material to produce high-purity hydrogen. The hydrogen produced is used to supply Shengshi Fuyuan Methanol Manufacturing Co., Ltd.’s 100,000 tons per year ammonia synthesis plant, with any excess hydrogen being sold as commercial hydrogen. The Pengwan Hydrogen Port Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park project has an investment scale of 10 billion yuan. It is a hydrogen energy comprehensive utilization industrial park project developed through a partnership between Pengfei Group and the American Gulf Environmental Systems Company. The designed production capacity is 200,000 tons of hydrogen per year, with construction carried out in three phases. The hydrogen production method relies primarily on coal furnace gas, with coal-based hydrogen production serving as a supplementary method. The park is planned to integrate hydrogen production, storage, refueling, transportation, as well as downstream industries and research and development, aiming to become a influential hydrogen energy industry demonstration site in Shanxi Province and across the country. The main products of this project are gaseous hydrogen and “organic liquid hydrogen” using methylcyclohexane as a carrier, which can be widely applied in fields such as petroleum refining, the metallurgical industry, and hydrogen fuel vehicles.
