On April 30, 2024, at the site of the Guangxi Petrochemical Integration and Transformation Project, which was constructed under the general contract of Dalian Branch of China Kunlun Engineering Co., Ltd., the first module of the key chemical processing and thermal pipeline systems was successfully installed in one go, following the steady lowering of a 750-ton crawler crane. This marks the first successful implementation of a closed-loop process for design, procurement, and construction for the Guangxi Petrochemical project at the Dalian branch. It is also the first successful example of modular construction using steel structures for pipe corridors by CNPC, representing a breakthrough by the company in the field of construction using the new model of \"factory-prepared components + modular construction\".
The total number of modules for the petrochemical processing and thermal pipeline networks in Guangxi is 181, and the first module to be lifted this time is one of the module in pipeline gallery No. 4. This module features a 4-axis, two-frame structure, measuring 27 meters in length, 6 meters in width, 9 meters in height, and weighing 58 tons. “The construction mode of \"factory prefabrication + modular construction\" shifts the production process from traditional on-site work to factory-based manufacturing, by fabricating and installing the steel structures for utility tunnels as well as the process pipelines. This approach enables simultaneous operations at \"one installation site plus four factories (module manufacturing plant, steel structure manufacturing plant, pipeline anti-corrosion plant, concrete structure manufacturing plant)\", **improving construction efficiency, ensuring unobstructed roads during construction, reducing risks associated with work at heights, and thus contributing to enhanced construction safety, improved quality, better practices in construction, and an improved working environment.\"

As integrated project construction progresses in various locations, site grading has become a key factor affecting the overall advancement of these projects. Guangxi Petrochemical Company actively carries out project coordination and planning, assisting with various tasks such as the approval process for forest and farmland within the project site, the relocation of industrial enterprises, and the demolition of remaining residential buildings. The Engineering Management Department faces challenges head-on, pools collective wisdom and efforts to solve problems, remove bottlenecks, and overcome obstacles. It meets daily with construction units and other parties to discuss progress on daily work plans as well as the amount of machinery and equipment being utilized, thereby creating a working environment in which both the local authorities and enterprises work together to advance the project. China National Petroleum Corporation’s Guangxi Petrochemical integration and transformation project is an important measure to optimize the layout of petrochemical operations in the southwest region. With a total investment of 3,045,914 million yuan, it is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by 2025. Once the project is completed and put into operation, it will play a significant role in filling the gap in the region’s high-end chemical and new material industry, meeting the market demands of areas along the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, and helping to develop a trillion-dollar green chemical and new material industry cluster in the western region aimed at serving ASEAN.
