On June 15, 2019, the SE Dongfang furnace, developed jointly by Sinopec and East China University of Science and Technology, was successfully put into operation with coal at the Zhongan United Chemical Project. On June 1, with the successful commissioning of the 5400-ST-3001 steam turbine generator set in the Zhongan United Thermal Power Department and the completion of the 72+24 hour performance testing, the commissioning of the 62 large-scale units in Zhongan United’s coal chemical plant was successfully concluded! On May 9, the extrusion granulation unit of the polypropylene plant in the Zhongan project, constructed by the Fifth Construction Company of Sinopec Refining & Chemical Engineering Group, completed its first trial run successfully, producing qualified products. On May 10, more good news came from the polyethylene plant’s commissioning site: the domestic large-scale equipment, a polyethylene extrusion granulation unit with an annual production capacity of 350,000 tons, passed its commissioning tests successfully once again. On April 25, Unit 1 of the air separation plant at Zhongan United Gasification produced qualified oxygen and nitrogen, successfully achieving the interim goals for the commissioning of this air separation unit; this represents a milestone in the commissioning process of this coal chemical project. The S-MTO unit of Zhongan United’s 1.7 million tons per year methanol and converted olefins project achieved high-standard commissioning on January 23, 2019. The 1.7 million tons per year coal-to-methanol and converted olefins project of Zhongan United Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. is a key construction project of Sinopec and Anhui Province. The core process of the project utilizes S-MTO patented technology owned by Sinopec, while the gasification unit employs SE-Oriental furnace technology also owned by Sinopec. Using coal from the Zhujixi mine as raw material, methanol and converted olefins (LDPE/PP), ethylene glycol (MEG) and other products are produced. Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. is responsible for the overall management of the design, procurement, and construction of the MTO/OCC and PP units in this project, as well as six supporting facilities including the control room and 110-kilovolt substation ； Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. is responsible for the design and construction of the gasification unit for the contracted project ； Design and construction of the air separation unit, purification unit, and circulating water system for Sinopec’s Nanjing engineering contracting project. The coal gasification unit consists of systems such as the coal grinding and drying unit, the pulverized coal pressurization and transportation unit, the gasification and washing unit, the slag removal unit, the ash water treatment unit, and the gasification utility systems; it was constructed by Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Company.
