The facility with the highest capacity for producing caprolactam in China has been established at Lunan Chemical; Yankuang Chemical is thus embarking on a new phase of accelerated transition from old to new forms of energy. Author/Source: Yankuang Chemical Co., Ltd. Date: July 4, 2019. Clicks: 719. The facility with the highest capacity for producing caprolactam in China, as well as one of the selected projects from the second batch of major projects for the transition from old to new forms of energy in Shandong Province—the 300,000-ton/year caprolactam production facility along with related infrastructure—was recently put under construction at Yankuang Lunan Chemical. This project utilizes the internationally advanced ammonia oximation process for the production of caprolactam, featuring a rational process flow, low amounts of by-products, low equipment investment, low consumption levels, minimal environmental impact, and high product quality. The construction scope includes a caprolactam plant with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons, an ammonium sulfate plant with an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons, a ** plant with an annual production capacity of 270,000 tons, a sulfuric acid plant with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons, a hydrogen peroxide plant with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons, a polymer chips plant with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons, as well as a coal distribution center and supporting utility facilities. The total investment in the project and its associated facilities is approximately 5.1 billion yuan. It is expected to be completed and put into operation by June 2021, at which time it will generate annual sales revenue of around 4.56 billion yuan and profits and taxes amounting to 460 million yuan. It is understood that caprolactam is an important organic chemical raw material that can be used to produce textiles, industrial fibers, fibers for carpets, and food packaging. It is widely applied in industries such as automobiles, electronics, packaging, machinery, sports and leisure, as well as daily necessities. In recent years, Yankuang Group has adhered to a development strategy of \"large-scale operation, park-based development, and high-end advancement,\" and has carried out targeted initiatives to promote the safe production and transformation of its chemical industry. The commencement of construction of the project with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of caprolactam and related facilities marks a shift in Yankuang’s chemical industry from traditional coal-based chemical manufacturing to high-end chemicals and new materials, ushering in a new era of accelerated transformation between old and new forms of energy.
