Commissioning of the isothermal shift unit for Yulin Energy Chemical’s 1.2 million tons per year coal-based ethylene glycol production project – Author/Source: Refining & Chemical Industry News, Date: 12-17-2019, Clicks: 1033. On December 13, 2019, the commissioning ceremony for the 400,000 tons per year unit of Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd.’s 1.2 million tons per year coal-based ethylene glycol production project was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Units such as Yulin Energy Group, China Tianchen Corporation, and the patent holder Nanjing Dunxian Company participated in this meeting. It is understood that this project was planned by Yulin Energy Group in line with the city’s strategies for the development of its coal chemical industry, which focus on transformation and upgrading, as well as on pursuing high-end and clustered development. The shift unit for this project utilizes the “two-stage isothermal shift technology” developed by Nanjing Dunxian Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. This technology has been successfully applied in large-scale facilities such as Air Products’ 1 million-ton ethylene glycol plant in the United States, Zhejiang Petrochemical’s 40 million-ton integrated refining and chemical processing plant, and Ningxia Baofeng’s 2.2 million-ton methanol plant. It offers advantages such as lower investment costs, simpler operation, and reduced energy consumption, thereby providing a technical foundation for the successful implementation of the shift unit in this ethylene glycol project. Regarding Dunxian, Nanjing Dunxian Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech private enterprise founded by Wang Qingxin. The company was established in 2009 with a registered capital of 10 million. The company is primarily engaged in the research, development, and promotion of technologies related to synthetic ammonia, methanol, ethylene glycol, dimethyl ether, formaldehyde, methyl acetate, as well as the purification of raw gases used in synthetic ammonia production. It currently holds nearly twenty patent technologies; some of these technologies surpass those available in China, enabling the company to lead the country in terms of energy efficiency and environmental protection. These patented technologies have been successfully implemented in industrial facilities. Nanjing Dunxian Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. has developed an \"energy-saving water-mediated heat transfer conversion process for deep conversion\" suitable for CO conversion processes under various conditions and requirements, along with corresponding water-mediated heat transfer isothermal reactors (patented products). To date, more than 40 companies have successfully implemented and adopted this technology, achieving excellent results in its use. It is currently at the leading level in terms of technical sophistication in China, with a market share of over 65%. The large-scale facilities that utilize this technology include those operated by Air Products and Chemicals in the United States for the production of 1 million tons of ethylene glycol, Ningxia Baofeng for 2.2 million tons of methanol, Shandong Hualu Hengsheng for 1 million tons of alcohol-ammonia, Inner Mongolia Yitai for 2 million tons of coal-to-oil production, Anhui Haoyuan for 900,000 tons of methanol, Huisheng Engineering for 400,000 tons of polyamides, Anhui Haoyuan for 700,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, Inner Mongolia Jiutai for 500,000 tons of ethylene glycol, and Shandong Luxi Chemical for 500,000 tons of synthetic ammonia.
