On April 20, the JM-1H furnace (Jinhang Furnace) was successfully ignited at Jinfeng Wenxi Chemical Company in Wenxi County, thus beginning its industrial trial operation. This furnace was developed by Jinmei Group in collaboration with the Sixth Academy of Xi’an Aerospace Industry, under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, over a period of 2 years, with a total investment of 286 million yuan. Through the joint efforts of over 120 experts and technicians (40% of whom are senior engineers, and 70% hold master’s or doctoral degrees), and after going through stages such as basic research, unit testing, and engineering scale-up studies, it has entered the industrial testing phase. This technology will effectively solve the global challenge of gasifying slag from high ash fusion point anthracite; its technical parameters are superior to those of similar systems (90% higher effective gas content and 99% higher carbon conversion rate), its environmental performance is better than that of comparable systems, and it features a high degree of automation (operations can be carried out without human intervention on site). Its intrinsically safe and reliable nature will provide strong technical support for the transformation and development of China’s traditional chemical industry. It will also offer solid technical backing for Shanxi Province’s coal industry to further develop in the field of coal chemicals. Additionally, it provides effective solutions to help maintain stability in the market for anthracite, boost prices, and improve the profitability of anthracite-producing enterprises.
