The temperature in the sulfur production furnace is around 1235°C, which is lower than the temperature required for ammonia combustion. When we increased the amount of gas and added a little more air to raise the temperature, the liquid flow turned black, and the chimney began to emit smoke more frequently. In case 2, simply increasing the air supply to raise the temperature of the sulfur production furnace results in a particularly large increase in the temperature of the reactor due to exhaust gas hydrogenation. Generally, there are three ways to increase the ammonia burning temperature in sulfur production furnaces: first, by adding a partial flow process for acidic gases; second, by preheating the acidic gases and air; third, by using fuel gas as an auxiliary burner to raise the temperature. However, when burning fuel gas, it is necessary to ensure that the hydrogen sulfide/sulfur dioxide online analyzer is operating properly to prevent carbon deposition. If increasing the air supply is used to raise the temperature, it results in the generation of excessive sulfur dioxide, ultimately leading to an excessive rise in the temperature of the hydrogenation reactor.

I suspect there might be an issue with your sulfur ratio. What is the temperature of the exhaust furnace when smoke is coming out of the chimney? What is the temperature of the flue gas before it enters the chimney? White smoke can be caused either by an excessive amount of water in the flue gas, or by humid air; in such cases, SO2 in the flue gas reacts with O2 and water vapor to form fuming sulfuric acid, which results in white smoke.
