Special Symposium on Temperature-Controlled Shift Ovens for Syngas Purification Units at Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical Held Author/Source: Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Date: 2021-11-19 Clicks: 9 To ensure the safe and stable operation of the temperature-controlled shift ovens in the syngas purification units, the company held a special Symposium on such ovens recently. Zheng Baoxiang, the deputy general manager of the company, Liu Wansheng, the chief engineer, as well as the heads of relevant functional departments and project teams and related technical personnel attended the meeting. The syngas purification unit includes process units such as shift conversion, low-temperature methanol washing, cryogenic stations, sulfur recovery, deep cryogenic separation of carbon monoxide, and H2 pressure swing adsorption, along with auxiliary facilities. The conversion unit utilizes the two-stage temperature-controlled heat transfer conversion furnace technology developed by Huashuo Technology Co., Ltd. – namely, the wide-temperature sulfur-resistant conversion process – which enables the reaction temperature to be controlled to meet the process requirements. At the meeting, the Technical Management Department presented the current renovation plan for the converter, the simulation of the flow field inside the converter, as well as the dynamic calculation models and results for the catalyst beds in the first and second converters. The participants had in-depth discussions on the structure and principles of the temperature-controlled heat transfer shift converter, flow field simulation, resistance drop distribution within the converter, catalyst loading strategies for the converter, openings in the lower cone of the central cylinder, and modifications to the outlet distributor. Through this thematic discussion, the sources of pressure drop, flow field distribution, and key considerations related to the temperature-controlled shift furnace in the syngas purification unit were further clarified, providing guidance for the future operation and maintenance of the unit.
