On December 3, the cryogenic separation unit of this project, constructed by the third company of Sinochem Second Construction Group Co., Ltd., was successfully brought online for the first time, producing qualified LNG products. This marks the entry of some of the project’s units into normal operation, laying a solid foundation for full-scale production in the future. The 2.15 million tons per year solid-state coke oven LNG and synthetic ammonia project of Shanxi Tongzhou Coal Coking Group Co., Ltd. is a project that produces 100,000 tons of LNG per year and 100,000 tons of synthetic ammonia as a by-product. This project makes full use of the characteristics of coke oven gas, namely its methane content and high hydrogen concentration, and employs advanced cryogenic liquefaction technology to produce high-value chemicals. Using coke oven gas as a raw material, it develops downstream industrial chains for the production of ethylene glycol, LNG, and hydrogen, thereby facilitating a green transformation in the coking industry. It is one of the key projects for the Year of Deepening Transformation Project Construction in Qinyuan County, Shanxi Province. The project is carried out in two phases; it includes a 100,000-ton methanol production facility, with additional facilities for producing 100,000 tons of LNG and 100,000 tons of synthetic ammonia. At the same time, chemical products totaling 150,000 tons, including tar, crude benzene, ammonium sulfate, and sulfur paste, are recovered. In the first phase, the project mainly involves the construction of 2 coke ovens with 56 carbonization chambers each, a height of 6.25 meters, and an annual production capacity of 1.15 million tons of packed coke. In the second phase, 2 coke ovens with 50 carbonization chambers each, also with a height of 6.25 meters and an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of packed coke, will be built. Meanwhile, a dry quenching system will be installed, along with systems for coal preparation, dry quenching, chemical product recovery, environmental protection facilities, and various auxiliary facilities. Additionally, 2 coal washing plants with a capacity of 2.4 million tons each, 2 dry quenching waste heat recovery units with a capacity of 15 MW each, and a project for producing LNG from coke oven gas at an annual rate of 100,000 tons, along with 100,000 tons of ammonia per year, will also be constructed. Once all facilities are put into operation and reaching full capacity, the group’s sales revenue will reach 10 billion yuan, with taxes and profits paid amounting to 2.5 billion yuan. The project is located to the west of Mianshang Village, Guodao Town, Qinyuan County. The scale of construction includes coking operations: 2.15 million tons of coke per year, 142,532 tons of tar per year, 35,321 tons of crude benzene per year, 27,293 tons of ammonium sulfate per year, 5,203 tons of sulfur, 2,825 tons of ammonium thiocyanate, 942 tons of thiosulfate, 100,000 tons of LNG per year, 100,000 tons of liquid ammonia per year, and 26 million Nm3 per year of fuel gas (with hydrogen accounting for 42.8–66.4% and nitrogen accounting for 33.6–51.75% of its composition).
