Total investment of 17.15 billion yuan! Key construction works for the Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Upgrade Demonstration Project have commenced. Update date: 2025-04-07. Recently, key construction tasks for two phases of this project were started: Phase II of the building and installation work related to the design, procurement, and construction of the circulating water system, water supply pressure boosting facilities, and fire pump stations, which is undertaken by the Second Company of Shaanxi Huajian Engineering Co., Ltd.; as well as two phases of the installation work for Unit 2 of the gasification facility. These developments mark an acceleration in the construction of this project. The two bid sections of this project are under the general contracting of Donghua Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Company, while Shaanxi Huajian Engineering Co., Ltd. is responsible for the construction work. At the commencement ceremony, nearly 100 construction workers from the project owner, general contractor, construction unit, supervision unit, and other parties were present. As the two key units for project construction, the scope of work mainly includes: civil and installation works (including commissioning trials) within the Second Circulating Water Plant and the Third Circulating Water Plant (North Area), as well as civil and installation works such as substation No. 2 for the gasification unit, Coal Island 1, process pipelines, equipment installation, and electrical instruments. The planned duration is 552 calendar days, with full completion by the end of September 2026. It is reported that once completed, the annual production capacity for methanol and polyolefins will increase to 3.8 million tons and 1.35 million tons respectively, with 7.8 million tons of coal being converted annually. By then, it will significantly enhance the level of integration in the regional coal chemical industry, contribute to the implementation of clean energy strategies, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the regional economy.
