Recently, the high-end fluorine-based new material project of Inner Mongolia Mingyue New Materials Co., Ltd. – the R152a (1,1-difluoroethane) product – began production successfully. This product not only serves as a green alternative to traditional refrigerants but also functions as a “golden key” to advanced materials used in downstream applications. As a key precursor for the production of perfluoroethylene and polyperfluoroethylene, it facilitates the development of core materials for new energy batteries. The R152a production line began operations successfully; the first start-up was successful and the product quality met the required standards. This marks the full transition of the high-end fluorine-based new materials project from the construction phase to the actual production phase, opening a new chapter for the high-quality development of Mingyue New Materials. As early as December 24, 2025, the core production unit for anhydrous hydrogen fluoride in Mingyue New Materials’ high-end fluorine materials project achieved successful commissioning on the first attempt. According to sources in the fluorine chemical industry, anhydrous hydrogen fluoride and R152a, which were successfully produced through feeding into the production process this time, are part of the construction efforts for Mingyue New Materials’ high-end fluorine materials project (Phase 1). The details of the project are as follows: Project name: Mingyue New Materials Co., Ltd. High-End Fluorine Materials Industrial Park Project (Phase 1) ; Construction unit: Inner Mongolia Mingyue New Materials Co., Ltd ; Construction location: Dongshan Industrial Park, Chifeng High-Tech Industry Development Zone, Yuanbaoshan District, Chifeng City ; Project investment: 1,182 million yuan ; Project nature: New construction ; Construction contents: The main components of the project include the construction of 2 new hydrogen fluoride production lines with an identical total capacity of 70,000 tons per year, a calcium carbide loading/unloading station and a calcium carbide crushing facility, one acetylene production line, 2 new 1,1-difluoroethane production lines with an identical total capacity of 100,000 tons per year, as well as incineration facilities. Additionally, storage and transportation systems, auxiliary systems, utility systems, and environmental protection measures will be installed as part of the project. For further reading: Inner Mongolia Mingyue New Materials Co., Ltd. was established in March 2022, jointly funded by Shandong Dongyue Polymer Materials Co., Ltd. and Shandong Huaxia Shenzhou New Materials Co., Ltd., with Dongyue Group ultimately taking control of the company. According to sources in the fluorine chemical industry, as early as 2022, the company planned to invest around 2.6 billion yuan in the construction of a high-end fluorine new materials industrial park. The construction scope included a 70,000-ton/year anhydrous hydrogen fluoride (AHF) production facility, a 100,000-ton/year difluoroethane (R152a) production facility (accompanied by an acetylene production facility), a 60,000-ton/year dichlorodifluoroethane (R142b) production facility, a 35,000-ton/year vinylidene fluoride monomer (VDF) production facility, a 30,000-ton/year polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) production facility, as well as related projects for the comprehensive utilization of these resources. In addition, the project will also establish a technology research, development, and innovation platform simultaneously. Of this, the first phase of the project requires an investment of 1.182 billion yuan, and the construction scope includes a 70,000 t/a anhydrous hydrogen fluoride (AHF) plant, a 100,000 t/a difluoroethane (R152a) plant (accompanied by an acetylene plant), etc.
