I have been working on a graduation project recently, involving a three-piece fixed ball valve with PN100 DN200 specifications and end flange connections. I referred to the book \"Design and Selection of Ball Valves\" when designing the flange for the ball valve body; the book did not provide any guidance on flange selection, so I chose an integral flange according to HG20592. However, after looking at some drawings, it appeared that most connections were made using bolts or welding. Upon examining finished ball valves, I noticed that the flanges used to connect the three sections of the valve body were not circular in shape – the flange I selected was simply a regular circular one. Now I don’t know how to draw the diagram, nor how to do the calculations. Should it be changed to a fully welded design? If so, is it necessary to conduct any kind of verification? I hope the experts can give some advice
You need to figure out whether it’s a welded type It’s still of the flange type; actually, regardless of the type, there are standard specifications such as HG20634 and ASME 16.5, which provide standard flange dimensions
I’m not too sure about this, but it’s certain that the standards for flanges vary
For your pressure rating, the flange in between the two-piece or three-piece design is definitely round, and the calculation of the bolts used on that intermediate flange should be carried out in accordance with ASME B16.34.
