On July 23, news came from the Hubei Provincial Energy Bureau stating that a number of major energy projects in Hubei have been included in the **plan. 24 projects, including Hubei Energy’s 4 billion cubic meter coal-to-gas project, the 500 kV power transmission and transformation project in the northern part of Wuhan, and the 500 kV output project for the third phase of Ezhou Power Plant, have been included as key projects under the **13th Five-Year Plan**. Commissioned by the **Energy Administration, the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Planning Institute organized a symposium in Beijing on July 13 to conduct a mid-term assessment of key projects related to the implementation of the \"13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Advanced Coal Processing Industries.\" Hubei Energy’s 4 billion cubic meter coal-to-gas project is among those included in this assessment, and the results of the assessment will be submitted to the **Energy Bureau. In 2015, China Three Gorges Corporation signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hubei Province, which included the construction of a coal-to-gas project with a capacity of 4 billion cubic meters in the province, aiming to address the shortage of natural gas there through coal-to-natural gas technology. The project is initially located in Jiangling, Jingzhou. It is reported that the coal used as raw material for this project mainly comes from the Yulin area in northern Shaanxi, which is located along the Menghua coal transportation corridor, with an annual coal demand of around 12.7 million tons. Currently, the project plans to incorporate a methanol production facility with an annual capacity of 1.8 million tons, in order to extend the value-added processing chain of the products and improve their economic viability.
What a great project! I’m from Jingzhou, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get involved in it. I worked in the chemical industry for five years and became an engineer; after that I paid more attention to the issue, and still, it’s important that the workplace be close to home.
