On January 2, an intermediate handover ceremony was held for the coal tar and low-carbon alkane recycling project of Ningxia Baowang New Energy Co., Ltd.; the 600,000 tons per year #1 refined coal tar upgrading unit, the 400,000 tons per year coal tar hydrogenation unit, and the sulfur recovery unit were successfully handed over. Ningxia Baowuxin New Energy Co., Ltd. was established in January 2016 with a registered capital of 400 million yuan. Aiming to make full use of the abundant coal and gas resources as well as the policy support available in the local area and its surroundings, the company invested in building a \"Coal Tar and Low-Carbon Alkanes Recycling Project\" within the New Materials Park of the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, which is part of the \"Project No. 1\". This project uses medium- and low-temperature coal tar and low-carbon mixed alkanes as raw materials to produce chemical products such as benzenes, aromatics, and polypropylene. By recycling coal tar and low-carbon alkanes in an integrated manner, it not only increases the economic value of these products but also transforms waste into valuable resources, thereby promoting a circular economy and the expansion of the industrial chain. The total investment for the project is estimated at 3.6 billion yuan; it will be developed in phases as part of a single planning scheme, covering an area of approximately 1,000 mu. Phase 1 of the project plans to construct a coal tar hydrogenation unit with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons, a #1 refined coal tar upgrading unit with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons, a sulfur recovery unit with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons, a methanol cracking hydrogen production unit with a capacity of 2,000 standard cubic meters per hour, along with associated utility systems and auxiliary facilities ; Phase II of the project is planned to produce 300,000 tons per year of polymeric-grade propylene, 300,000 tons per year of polypropylene, and 330,000 tons per year of butene derivatives, along with the necessary utility systems and auxiliary facilities. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2020, with commissioning expected by the first half of 2022. The Baoting coal tar and low-carbon alkanes recycling project commenced construction in June 2018. Through the joint efforts of all participating units, it took 18 months to successfully complete 37 individual projects, including coal tar hydrogenation, upgrading, and sulfur recovery.
