On October 26, Donghua Technology and Air Products (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “AP Company”) held a design kickoff meeting for the Jutai Hohhot 30-ton/day liquid hydrogen project. The High-Efficiency Hydrogen Comprehensive Utilization Demonstration Project is currently the largest liquid hydrogen project both domestically and internationally, and it is also the second liquid hydrogen project invested by AP Company in China. By utilizing the world’s most advanced equipment and technologies for hydrogen purification, liquefaction, compression, storage of liquid hydrogen, loading systems, and the associated supply chain, a project capable of producing 30 tons of liquid hydrogen per day has been established. Additionally, 20 liquid hydrogen refueling stations have been built in the main urban area of Hohhot and in Tuoketuo County, thereby contributing significantly to the transformation of Hohhot’s energy structure. This effort helps accelerate the development of the hydrogen industry in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and adds new impetus to the shift of China’s hydrogen industry from a gaseous to a liquid form. On June 10, the signing ceremony for Hohhot’s first 10,000-ton-class green liquid hydrogen energy project – the Air Products Jiutai High-Efficiency Hydrogen Energy Comprehensive Utilization Demonstration Project – was held at Jiutai New Materials Company. Air Products Jiutai (Inner Mongolia) Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was established in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, through a joint investment by Air Products (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Jiutai New Materials Co., Ltd. This project makes full use of the syngas tail hydrogen resources from Jutai New Materials Company’s projects, and relies on AP Company’s advanced hydrogen purification, liquefaction, and storage and transportation technologies. By combining their respective strengths, the two parties aim to become the most competitive supplier of industrial hydrogen and energy hydrogen in Inner Mongolia, with leading technology and stable supply. Hydrogen is an important industrial raw material (hereinafter referred to as \"industrial hydrogen\”), and it is widely used in various fields such as petroleum, chemicals, electronics, metallurgy, fats and oils, aerospace, and light industry. In the petrochemical industry, reactions such as the production of synthetic ammonia and methanol, as well as oil refining, require large amounts of industrial hydrogen. Hydrogen is also used as a raw material in the production of nylon plastics, pesticides, fats and oils, and fine chemicals. In the electronics industry, high-purity hydrogen is primarily used as a reducing gas, carrier gas, and protective gas in the production processes of electronic materials, semiconductor materials and devices, integrated circuits, liquid crystal displays, and electrovacuum devices. In the metallurgical industry, hydrogen is used as a reducing agent and protective atmosphere in the production and processing of non-ferrous metals (tungsten, molybdenum, titanium, etc.). In the production of silicon steel sheets, magnetic materials, and magnetic alloys, high-purity hydrogen is used as a shielding gas to enhance magnetism and stability. Hydrogen is also in high demand in industries such as the fiber optic industry, food industry, float glass production, and fine organic synthesis. Furthermore, hydrogen is also a “clean” energy source (hereinafter referred to as “hydrogen for energy use”), which can be used as fuel in fuel cells and is a renewable clean energy source. In the future, as environmental regulations become increasingly stringent, hydrogen will play an ever more important role in the storage of renewable energy and the production of clean electricity.
