According to Sinochem New Network, on May 12, SABIC announced the introduction of the NORYL V0150TW and V0150IR2 resins. These two resins are among the first laser-weldable thermoplastics available for photovoltaic applications. It is said that the NORYL V0150TW (absorptive) and V0150IR2 (transmissive) resins combine flame retardancy, excellent weather resistance, and sealing properties. They enable simplified manufacturing of photovoltaic micro-inverters and other components, while significantly improving their reliability and stability in outdoor environments, thereby accelerating the adoption of solar energy. Microinverters convert the direct current generated by solar energy into alternating current. Such external components require the enclosure to have good flame retardancy, weather resistance, and mechanical integrity. NORYL V0 resin possesses excellent flame resistance in thin walls; it also has outstanding weather resistance, a service life of up to 15 years in outdoor conditions, and maintains its mechanical integrity at temperatures below 150°C, thus meeting the aforementioned requirements. Compared to metals, this material can reduce part dimensions by 40%, weight by 35%, and material usage by 30%. Furthermore, as microinverter manufacturers continue to expand their production capacity to meet the growing global demand for solar power generation, NORYL V0 resin helps this industry achieve higher output and better economies of scale. By enabling the transition from ultrasonic welding to laser welding, this material also helps to speed up assembly times.
