At 11 a.m. on September 15, 2017, the launching ceremony for this project was held in the Dalu Industrial Park in Zhungeer Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. On May 16, 2017, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the “Reply of the National Development and Reform Commission on the Approval of the Demonstration Project for Producing 4 billion standard cubic meters of coal-derived natural gas per year by Inner Mongolia Beikong Jingtai Energy Development Co., Ltd.”, Document No. FGNY [2017] 942. On May 17, Beikong Jingtai Energy received the official approval document. On April 25, 2016, the Ministry of Environmental Protection approved the environmental impact assessment report for the 4 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project developed by Inner Mongolia Beikong Jingtai Energy Development Co., Ltd. Located in the Dalu Industrial Park in Zhungeer Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, this project utilizes local coal resources and employs technologies such as pressurized gasification of coal particles, pressurized gasification of pulverized coal, and methanation to produce 4 billion standard cubic meters of synthetic natural gas per year. It mainly supplies cities in Beijing and its surrounding areas, while also ensuring the replacement of clean energy in Zhungeer Banner. The total investment amounts to 28.366 billion yuan, of which 3.381 billion yuan is allocated to environmental protection initiatives. This project is a **Demonstration Project for the Clean and Efficient Transformation and Upgrading of Coal sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission; it is included among the key projects under the Air Pollution Control Action Plan for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It has also been tasked with carrying out demonstrations of zero-discharge technologies for wastewater salt separation, as assigned by the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The project introduces an innovative technology for the crystallization and recycling of salts from wastewater treatment, and develops a reliable backup solution to ensure that no wastewater is discharged under any operating conditions, thereby enabling the reuse of water resources. This approach provides an effective solution to the wastewater treatment challenges associated with the development of the coal chemical industry as well as with environmental impact assessment processes
