Shaanxi Xuchuangrui Clean Energy’s plant for producing 99.999% high-purity hydrogen from coke oven gas has gone into operation

Shaanxi Xuchuangrui Clean Energy’s facility for producing 99.999% high-purity hydrogen from coke oven gas has gone into operation. According to Shaanxi Haiyan New Energy Group Company, on October 23, 2020, the project for producing high-purity hydrogen from coke oven gas, carried out by Shaanxi Xuchuangrui Clean Energy Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shaanxi Haiyan New Energy Group Company, was successfully put into operation. Tests conducted by professional institutions have shown that the purity of the hydrogen reaches 99.999%; this is the first facility in the northwest region to use coke oven gas to produce high-purity hydrogen. Construction of the project began in March 2020, with a designed annual production capacity of 50 million m3. Next, Shaanxi Xuchuangrui Clean Energy Co., Ltd. will build on its existing production processes and, through the technical upgrading of its production equipment, ultimately achieve the goal of producing 200 million cubic meters of hydrogen per year. By integrating the group’s resources, the gas filling stations operated by Hancheng Meiyuan Gas Sales Co., Ltd. have been upgraded, providing strong support for high-purity hydrogen projects in terms of hydrogen transportation, storage, sales, and refueling. In terms of hydrogen energy applications, the parent company plans to replace its existing commuter buses with hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, thereby creating the first demonstration project for hydrogen-based transportation in Shaanxi. Shaanxi Xuchuangrui Clean Energy will actively engage in providing hydrogen energy supply services in the region as well as contributing to the development of the hydrogen energy industry, thereby supplying hydrogen energy to support Shaanxi’s semiconductor industry, the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and the low-carbon development of the steel industry.
