On March 1st, the construction site of Yueneng Chemical Company was filled with colorful flags and a lively atmosphere, as the groundbreaking ceremony for the PC project of its 400,000 tons per year ethylene glycol production facility was held. On February 28th, a mobilization meeting was held to launch the construction of the 400,000-ton-per-year ethylene glycol production unit as part of the first phase of the 1.2 million-ton-per-year coal-based ethylene glycol project at Shaanxi Yueneng Chemical Materials Co., Ltd., which is part of the Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group. As the first coal chemical project independently developed by Yulin Energy Group, the ethylene glycol project holds significant strategic importance for the group in expanding its influence, optimizing its industrial structure, accelerating transformation and upgrading, and promoting supply-side structural reforms. At the meeting, Yueneng Chemical Materials Company signed the \"2021 Annual Target Responsibility Letter\" with each of the participating units. Lu Xuehua, the general manager of Yueneng Chemical Materials Company, gave a speech outlining the overall plan for project construction, the key milestones in the project’s development, the annual plans for 2021, as well as the requirements for both the company and the participating units. On February 26, a meeting was held to discuss the civil engineering design details for the 400,000-ton/year ethylene glycol production unit of the first phase of the 1.2 million tons/year coal-based ethylene glycol project at Shaanxi Yueneng Chemical Materials Co., Ltd., which is part of the Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group. China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd., Saiding Engineering Co., Ltd., Hualu Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., and China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd., as well as various construction and supervision units, Li Zhengang, the deputy general manager of Yueneng Chemical Company, Li Yucun, the deputy chief engineer, and relevant technical personnel attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Jiang Haijin, the deputy head of the Engineering Management Department. At the meeting, Li Yucun first gave a brief introduction to the progress of the project construction to the attendees. The various design institutes provided detailed explanations on issues such as drawing versions, backfill soil, hole inspection, pile breaking, setting out, and reserved holes. They gave detailed answers to the questions raised by the participating parties, and outlined the key design points and precautions. In his concluding remarks, Li Zhengang put forward specific requirements for the various design firms, construction companies, and supervision agencies. The design firms are required to provide timely technical support for this project, while all parties involved should enhance communication and work together to ensure the smooth progress of the construction. The civil engineering design technical briefing is one of the key steps in the full commencement of a project, and the holding of this design technical briefing is of great significance for accelerating project construction. The first phase of Yueneng Chemical’s 1.2 million tons per year coal-based ethylene glycol production project is expected to require an investment of 624.3 billion yuan, with construction starting on May 2, 2020. Entering 2021, the pile foundation work for Yueneng Chemical’s ethylene glycol project was completed successfully. Over a period of 150 days, 5,825 piles were installed, with a total length of 110,306 meters. A total of 41,304 cubic meters of concrete was poured, thereby completing all pile foundation works along the entire line. In March 2021, the main phase of this project will commence construction on a full scale. The first phase of Shaanxi Yueneng Chemical Materials Co., Ltd.’s project for producing 1.2 million tons per year of ethylene glycol, with an initial capacity of 400,000 tons per year, is part of Yueneng Group’s initiatives in the Clean Fuel Production Base and High-End Chemical Materials Base located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of the Yushen Industrial Zone. The total planned land area for this project is 1,711 mu, and it is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by 2022. The project construction includes a gasification unit, a purification unit, an H2/cO separation unit, an ethylene glycol unit, etc. The utility systems and supporting auxiliary facilities include 3×350t/h high-temperature and high-pressure circulating fluidized bed boilers + 2×30MW back-pressure steam turbine generator sets, air separation units, circulating water stations, desalination stations, storage and transportation facilities, sewage treatment plants, etc. The coal gasification unit employs the Collin powder coal gasification technology and includes 2 powder coal gasifiers; the ethylene glycol unit uses the Zhongke Yuandong ethylene glycol technology.
